W. <br /> Brainerd, MN 56401 <br /> Re: City of Pequot Lakes <br /> Potential Ordinance Violation <br /> PIN: 291130030020009 <br /> Dear Mr. Nornberg: <br /> It has come to our attention through a complaint that you are likely in violation of the <br /> City's Ordinance regarding Signs and Outdoor Advertising. <br /> The Ordinance states, in Section 80.020,that, "The primary intent of this ordinance shall <br /> be to regulate signs of a commercial nature intended to be viewed from any vehicular or <br /> pedestrian right-of-way. " <br /> The Ordinance further states,in Section 80.050,that, "It shall hereafter be unlawful for <br /> any person to erect,place, or maintain a sign in the City of Pequot Lakes except in <br /> accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance. B. Signs. . . are prohibited within <br /> public rights-of-way and easements and on public property without written permission of <br /> the City. " <br /> .. The Ordinance further states,in Section 80.070,that, "The following signs are prohibited <br /> in all districts: 15. Off-site signs. " <br /> The Jon's Auto Body sign placed on the trailer along TH 371,a photograph is enclosed, is <br /> likely in violation of these three provisions of the Ordinance. We have also been <br /> contacted by the Minnesota Department of Transportation(MnDOT)and this off-site <br /> sign is also in violation of MnDOT rules. <br /> As opposed to formally citing you for a violation of the Ordinance,we would like the <br /> opportunity to work with you to correct the situation.
