Pequot Lakes - Hwy 371 North
August 21, 2005
out" without causing undue congestion or safety problems for the local trips.
12A. Additional project information is available at www.projects.dot.state.mn.us/seh/371.
CR 107 South/CSAH 29 - CR 107 North/CR 168 (Mayo Lake Road) 12 miles}
13. MnDOT believes they can fit the grassed-median, divided four-lane highway and a slightly
relocated Paul Bunyan Trail in the area between West Twin Lake and East Twin Lake
without getting too "tight", "ruining"the aesthetics, or needing to relocate the Paul Bunyan
Trail "off'the TH 371 corridor(along CR 107 for instance).
14. There is an existing water access to West Twin Lake on the west side of TH 371 north of
CSAH 29. The DNR is talking to the Lake Association about replacing this access.
MnDOT is willing to work with the DNR if a decision is made to provide an access to West
Twin Lake using the old TH 371 roadbed area.
15. A full access intersection is located south of Olson Road and north of Pow Wow Point
Road. This location puts it about halfway between the full access intersections at CR 107
South/CSAH 29 and CR 107 North/CR 168 (Mayo Lake Road).
Both Olson Road and Pow Wow Point Road will have access to the new TH 371 at this
new full access intersection via the old TH 371, which will be the service road.
West Twin Lake Drive will remain a right in-right out.
Can MnDOT put in a stub on the west side of the full access intersection? The City may
want to create a future alternate route/service road to get to this access.
16. As part of the Turn-back Agreement, MnDOT will re-do the width of old TH 371 south of
Olson Road to a 32-foot overall width (two 12-foot travel lanes and two 4-foot shoulders)
as well as providing appropriate pavement upgrades.
17. On the west side, immediately south of CR 168 (Mayo Lake Road), there will be a service
(backage) road coming off of CR 168 servicing this corner.
The City is responsible for acquiring most of the R/W for this service road. MnDOT will
pay for some of the R/W and a standard service road (32-foot, ditch-lined).
The City is responsible for any future possible connection of Hurtig Road into this service
road instead of its present intersection with CR 168 (see No. 18 below).
CADocuments and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLKB\082105 Overall List of Issues-memo.doc
