Pequot Lakes -Hwy 371 North
July 19, 2005
No matter its condition, the line is in MnDOT's R/W by permit and if the highway
construction impacts the watermain in some way, the City will have to either encase it or
relocate it at their expense. This will not be known until final design.
For the purposes of estimating a cost to the City,we assumed 600 feet of casing pipe will
need to be installed(excavation of existing watermain, installation of a `split' casing pipe,
`welding' of the `split' casing pipe, and backfilling)at$150 per foot for a total of$90,000
construction cost.
46. As apart of this project, MnDOT will handle the highway storm drainage as well as storm
sewers presently connected to the storm sewer system within the TH 371 R/W.
The City can partner with MnDOT during this construction project to pay for slightly larger
storm sewer pipe and stormwater infiltration basin volume to account for additional City
storm drainage brought into this system.
With MnDOT's present layout for the Government Drive/Jokela Street connection,
MnDOT has indicated that it will relocate its present infiltration basin to an area it has
identified north and east of its present location outside of the present"core downtown"
area.
Does the City want to provide storm sewer to more areas of the City and pay for a little
more capacity in this highway system?
This topic will be discussed further by the Committee based on the City's input.
Sibley Street - North City Limits 11.4 miles}
47. MnDOT is reviewing having the CSAH 17/Front Street full access intersection on a curve
on the highway. At present, MnDOT has indicated that it sees no viable alternative to this
layout.
48. The City is very concerned about the right in-right-out access proposed for the Roger
Langenbaugh property(north of CSAH 17 on west side).
It is expected that industrial truck traffic will continue out of and into this property.
Semi-trucks leaving this property and wanting to head north would need to either go to the
CSAH 17/Front Street intersection or to the Grove Street 3/4 intersection.
JAI30PQLAK\025-MnDOT TH371 hnprovements\Meetings\071905 Council Workshop update-memo.doc
