City of Pequot Lakes, MN <br /> 2005 Evenson Road Improvements <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br /> E. BITUMINOUS SURFACING (MnDOT 2360) <br /> 1. The Work shall consist of furnishing all plant, labor, materials and <br /> equipment, and performing all Work in accordance with the following <br /> specifications for the application of bituminous wearing course. <br /> 2. The Contractor shall use the following mixture and asphalt binder: <br /> IV 4 PG58-34 (Low Volume, 1/2" max. aggregate size) <br /> 3 . Asphalt Pavers shall be self-contained, power-propelled units, with <br /> an operational vibratory screed, capable of spreading and finishing <br /> courses of asphalt plant mix material in widths applicable to the <br /> specified typical sections and thicknesses indicated in the <br /> Contract. <br /> 4. The screed or strike-off assembly on asphalt pavers shall produce a <br /> finished surface of the required evenness and texture without <br /> tearing, shoving or gouging. For mainline paving, screed extensions <br /> and auger extensions are required if the paving width on either side <br /> of the paver is greater than the basic screed unless otherwise <br /> directed by the Engineer. Strike-off only extension assemblies are <br /> not allowed for mainline wearing course paving, unless directed by <br /> the Engineer. <br /> 5. All asphalt pavers shall be equipped with an approved automatic <br /> screed control. The automatic controls shall include a system of <br /> sensor-operated devices that follow reference lines or surfaces on <br /> one or both sides of the paver as required. The speed of the paver <br /> shall be adjusted to produce the best results. <br /> 6. The bituminous curb section shall apply from approximately 425 feet <br /> north of Akerson Road to approximately 1,930 feet north of Akerson <br /> Road. <br /> The exact location of bituminous curb shall be as directed by City <br /> personnel on site at the time of construction. <br /> The bituminous curb work shall consist of furnishing all labor, <br /> material, and equipment to install the curbs and to backfill behind <br /> them; and shall be measured and paid for at the per lineal foot <br /> price bid for Bituminous Curb. <br /> 7. The bituminous spillways shall be located slightly north or south of <br /> the centerline culvert across Evenson Road approximately 1,800 feet <br /> north of Akerson Road. <br /> The exact location and inverts of the bituminous spillways shall be <br /> as directed by City personnel on site at the time of construction. <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLKB\Technical Specifications.doc <br />
