� 9.5 Holiday pay shall not be considered time worked %r the purposes of computing <br />overtime or compensatary time. <br />9.6 All official holidays shall be considered to commence at the beginning of the first <br />shift of the day on which the holiday is observed and continue for twenty-four <br />hours thereafter. <br />9.7 Regular part-time empioyees are entitled to holiday pay on a prorata basis <br />according to the number of hours they worked in the previous calendar year. The <br />prora#a amount for the frst year of empioyment will be based on a projected <br />nutnber of hours that the employee is expected to work. <br />ARTICLE 10 <br />W�RK SCHEDULES <br />10.1 The normal workweek shall be an average of eighty (80) hours in a two {2) week <br />pay period. <br />10.2 The normal work yeai• shall consist of two thousand eighty (208Q) hours, to be <br />accounted for by each employee through: <br />� a. Hours worked on assigned shifts; <br />b. Holidays; <br />c. Authorized paid Ieave tune. <br />Nothing contained in this or any other Articie shall be interpreted to be a guarantee <br />of a miniinum or maximum number of hours the Emplayer may assign empioyees. <br />10.3 Employees may switch shifts upon approvat of the Police Chief or designee and <br />pr4vided such switching does not result in an obligation to pay overtime. <br />10.4 Work schedules shall be established by the Police Chief. The recuning pattern of <br />shifts may be changed upon thirty (30) days advance written notice to the Union, <br />except where extenuating circumstances necessitate a shoi�ter notice. Schedule <br />changes to cover a�Emnnr��'v st�ecial need or to cnver shifts which become vacant <br />due to an officer's telnporary absence do not require thirty (30) days advance <br />notice. <br />10.5 When an einployee is required hy the Police Chief to attend classes in Law <br />Enforcement, the employee shall be compensated at the regular �•a#e of pay, for <br />time actually speni in attendance at the class. Documentation of actual class time <br />inust be provided. Direct travel time to and from tlie training may he compensated <br />� at the employee's straight time rate of pay, if approved by the Police Chief per <br />22794-4 1 Q <br />
