City Council Minutes <br /> April 4, 2006 <br /> Page 7 of 9 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CHIEF <br /> TO DRAFT AN ORDINANCE TO IMPLEMENT ADMINISTRATIVE FINES <br /> IN THE CITY. COUNCIL MEMBER GREER SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 10. City Clerk's Monthly Report and 2006 Yearly Goals <br /> Report and 2006 goals presented to Council. <br /> 10.1. Office Assistant— Request to Hire <br /> The Clerk presented the job description, point ranking and pay scale for <br /> the Office Assistant position. She noted that she received 75 applicants for <br /> the position. The Clerk recommended hiring Jeanyne Alderson at step 2 of <br /> the pay scale. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO APPROVE THE JOB <br /> DESCRIPTION, POINT RANKING OF 141 POINTS, AND THE PAY <br /> SCALE FOR THE POSITION OF OFFICE ASSISTANT AND WITH A <br /> SIX-MONTH PROBATION PERIOD. COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO HIRE JEANYNE ALDERSON <br /> AS OFFICE ASSISTANT FOR THE CLERKS OFFICE AT 30 HOURS <br /> PER WEEK BEGINNING MAY 1, 2006, AT $11.99 PER HOUR. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 10.2. City Planner Discussion <br /> Council Member Greer reviewed information from the City Planner <br /> meeting on January 25, 2006. Council Member Greer indicated that a <br /> committee met to discuss the merit of hiring a full time planner. He noted <br /> that after researching the issue, Nisswa's situation seemed to be the <br /> closest fit to Pequot Lakes. Nisswa has a full time planner on staff. Council <br /> Member Nagel indicated that he felt the City is being served well with <br /> Community Growth at this time. Council Member Pfeiffer indicated that the <br /> cost would be too high for the City at this time. Council Member Greer <br /> suggested looking at the Zoning Administrator's job description to see if <br /> there is a chance she can take on additional planning duties. The Mayor <br /> suggested that this go back to the Planning Committee to further review <br /> the Zoning Administrator's job description. Council Member Greer <br /> indicated he did not wish to be on the committee. Council Member Nagel <br />
