Police Monthly Report and 2006 Yearly Goals <br /> Monthly report and 2006 goals presented to Council. The Mayor and <br /> Council congratulated Chief Braam in receiving a Heartsaver Award for <br /> participation in resuscitation of a cardiac arrest victim. <br /> 9.1. Approve Job Description Pay Scale and Wage for New Position <br /> Chief Braam presented the information on the new office manager position <br /> for the Police Department. He recommended hiring Janet Wedan at step 4 <br /> of the pay plan. Council discussion pursued regarding the title of the <br /> position and the wage. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER GREER MOVED TO APPROVE THE JOB <br /> DESCRIPTION FOR THE OFFICER MANAGER POSITION AND THE <br /> POINT RANKING OF 186 POINTS. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO HIRE JANET WEDAN AS THE <br /> OFFICE ASSISTANT AT 40 HOURS PER WEEK BEGINNING MAY 1, <br /> 2006, AT $13.79 PER HOUR WITH A SIX-MONTH PROBATION <br /> PERIOD. COUNCIL MEMBER GREER SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 9.2. Authorization to Hire Part-Time Officers <br /> Chief Braam requested authorization to hire two part time officers who <br /> would both work under 1,040 hours per calendar year. He noted that the <br /> funds from the restorative justice grant will cover their wages for this <br /> summer. Chief Braam recommended paying the officers $14.00 per hour. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK MOVED TO TABLE ACTION <br /> ON THIS ITEM UNTIL THE PAY EQUITY COMMITTEE CAN PROVIDE <br /> A JOB DESCRIPTION, POINT RANKING AND PAY SCALE FOR THE <br /> POSITION. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 9.3. Consider Administrative Fines <br /> Chief Braam recommended that the City of Pequot Lakes implement <br /> administrative fines for violations that are less than petty misdemeanors. <br /> Chief Braam reviewed the report on Administrative Fines. He indicated <br /> that if the Council is interested in pursuing this, he would draft an <br /> ordinance to present to the Council at the May meeting. <br />
