I City Council Minutes August 1, 2006 Page 4 of 10 ---------------------------- 5.1. BLADC Sheila Haverkamp of BLADC gave a presentation to the Council in relation to the 2020 Plan. Following the presentation she requested the Council to support the project. She requested that the council consider donating $5,000 toward the project. The Council indicated it would consider this request during budget review. Amy Collins of BLADC gave the Council a mid-year report of activities that took place in the City of Pequot Lakes. 8. Water/Wastewater Report COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED THAT THE WAC AND SAC FEES BE PLACED IN SEPARATE FUNDS AND THAT THE MONEY IN THESE TWO FUNDS BE USE ONLY FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE WATERIWASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITIES, AND FURTHER THAT ANY MONEY GENERATED FROM WAC AND SAC FEES IN THE YEARS 2005 AND 2006 BE PLACED IN THE DEDICATED WAC AND SAC FUNDS. COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. 8.1. Northeast Sanitary Sewer Improvements Brett Twardy reviewed the information provided by Tim Houle. He indicated that due to possible failing septics along County Road 11, he is proposing extension of sanitary sewer east from County Road 112 at a location approximately '/2 block north of County Road 11. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO AUTHORIZE ENGINEERING FEES FOR THE PROJECT. MAYOR MALECHA SECONDED THE MOTION. Council discussion pursued regarding the cost to property owners for an assessment of this nature. It was suggested that septic inspections be completed for properties included in the proposed project area to see if, in fact, there are septics that are failing. THE MOTION WAS WITHDRAWN. It was suggested that the Mayor, Brett Twardy, and Dawn Bittner contact the owners to discuss the situation with them.
