Park Board Minutes
February 8, 2007
Page 3
-------------------------
Commissioner Koslofsky stated the school is still willing to build a boat.
He further noted that he has contacted Greg's Boat Repair who has a lead
on an old used 16 ft. cedar boat.
8. Grant Opportunity for Parks
Sandy Peine gave the Board an article from Hamburger-Helper who is
offering grant money for parks. Sandy stated if the Board puts together a
budget, she would be willing to submit the grant. The Board discussed the
cost of the Bobber Tower Park Improvements. Commissioner Koslofsky
submitted the following proposed budget:
$5,000 Benches & Chair
$4,500 Concrete
$1,000 Paint, Repair Shed or Reside
$1,500 Shrubs/Plants/Dirt
$500 Boat
$500 Railing and Ropes
$1,000 Planters/Trash Barrels/Bobber Tops - (Mike Loven stated he
could get them fill dirt)
0 3. $1,000 Lighting
Criteria for Park Dedication Fees
Lisa Barajas arrived (5:00 p.m.) She explained to the Board how the park
dedication formula was formulated. The Board discussed the issue of
being consistent with all requests. Chair Anderson noted that it seemed
the City would capture a lot less in park dedication fees with the proposed
formula than with the 10% formula. Lisa Barajas explained that this
formula was more consistent with State Statute. She also noted that the
Park Board should be looking at developing a park plan in the future so it
has an idea as to what the fees would be used for and so the City can look
into the future regarding park needs. Lisa explained that this formula
would change from time to time depending on the population and number
of acres in park land that the City owns.
MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER KOSLOFSY TO
RECOMMEND TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION THAT THE
FORMULA FOR CALCULATING PARK DEDICATION FEES BE
IMPLEMENTED AND THAT IT BE REVIEWED EACH YEAR TO BE
SURE ALL OF THE STATISTICS IN THE FORMULA ARE CORRECT.
CHAIR ANDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED
4- 0.
