Motion was approved 4-3•
OPEN FORUM
Jan Sheridan, resident located on County Road 17,stated that she lives near the"teepee site"
that has been an eyesore for years and is getting worse. She stated her concern that the water
from that site runs down the hill and looks like a resort.
Chairman Woog noted that the City has been trying for a long time to address that site.
Sheridan asked what could be done? Every year the volume of material is increasing on the site.
She used to live in Fridley,MN and they had some construction lumber sitting outside for a deck
project.Within 3o days, they received a letter from the City stating it had to be removed even
though they covered it with a tarp. Does she need to talk to an attorney?
Chairman Woog explained the ordinance against refuse and litter does apply to the site and the
City has been try ing to address it. He stated it has been the biggest struggle he's faced on the
Commission since joining 12 years ago.
Bill Habein provided Sheridan with a copy of a letter that was sent to the owner of the property
recently outlining the requirements for clean up.
Sheridan also noted that there was junk in the ravine going out of town that she complained
about years ago and nothing was done. The Commission noted that was the old City dump.
Tom Adams suggested that maybe the City needs to start imposing daily fines for such
violations.
Minutes 8
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
April 20, 2010
