City Of
Pequot
Lakes- --
March 29, 2016
John and Kris Brown
PSC 701 Box 91
APO, AP 96555
Re: Parcel Identification Number: 2912500001oAoo9
27713 Janco Lane
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brown:
Mayor Sjoblad provided me a copy of your February 28, 2016 letter to him. I will
address the 3 projects you outlined.
1. Cabin Expansion —You would be allowed a 25% expansion of your existing, non-
conforming cabin. The expansion could not encroach any further into a setback,
meaning it could not go toward the lake or encroach into the 10-foot side yard
setbacks. As outlined in my August 29, 2013 email you would be able to count
both the existing cabin and the porch to determine the 25%.
You mention moving the cabin back from the lake, but in order to be allowed the
50% addition you request the cabin would have to be moved outside the 37.5 foot
mark from the Ordinary High Water Mark(OHW). This distance may impede
access to Jane Byrne's cabin.
2. Build a Garage — First, there needs to be a 10-foot setback from each septic tank.
Second, the City cannot permit any filling of a wetland (swamp). That permission
must come from Crow Wing County Soil and Water.
3. Shoreline Restoration —Any type of shoreline alteration above the OHW would
require a permit from the City, such as rip rap. September 17, 2010 City Planner
Marohn and I visited this parcel at Alan Brown's request. On September 21, 2010
I spoke with Mr. Brown and provided the following information:
4638 COUNTY ROAD 11 - PEQUOT LAKES,MN 56472- (218) 568-5222 - FAx: (218) 568-5860 - www.pequotlakes-n-n.gov
