She stated that I would need a wetland survey at a cost of several hundred dollars, for the area behind our shed
where we would like to build a garage. Then we would need to submit an application to Pequot for zoning and
planning at a cost of several hundred dollars. How does all of this work? Does the Zoning Administrator have the
final say? That is an elected position, correct?Who does Dawn Bitter report to?What is the organizational chart
for Pequot Lakes city? I have not been able to find that information online.
I did find the city code and policies for Pequot Lakes. Chapter 17-11 deals with alteration of property. I have a
couple questions from 17-30.There is a part that states
%of setback met---
1-50%is tier 1
51-99% is tier 2
Expansion allowed---
Tier 1 25%addition
Tier 2 50%addition
I could find no explanation of what tier 1 and tier 2 means.
I spoke with Kathy Meyer last summer and she said that on her 4 cabins that she had renovated by Eric Larson,
she was able to expand 50%(although one she did not go the full 50%).
Another East Twin resident said that the rules should allow for those of us with very tiny cabins---50%only gives
us a few more square feet.We should not be limited to 25%. It is much different for those who have very large
cabins. if they are allowed to go 50%,they can end up with a significantly larger dwelling.
In closing, if we are not allowed to remodel and expand our cabin by 50%,add a garage and restore our shore,
we probably will have to sell and find another place. This would be a great shame, as we love East Twin. My
family has been on this lake for over 60 years.
Respectfully,
Kris and Jo n Brown
Ou email addresses are:
kristenbbrown @hotmail.com, youbiz4u @yahoo.com
