Box 466,Nisswa,MN 56468 <br /> September 22, 2014 <br /> Dawn Bittner <br /> Pequot Lakes Zoning Administrator <br /> 4638 County Road 11 <br /> Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 <br /> Dear Ms. Bittner: <br /> The Cullen Lakes Association's Land Development Committee has reviewed the 8/26/2014 <br /> Lighting and Vegetation Plan submitted to the City by Wilderness Resort Villas and would like <br /> to share its thoughts and concerns with you and the Planning Commission members. <br /> General <br /> *To require a plan such as this is good,but to keep it from simply collecting dust on a shelf it <br /> should have an implementation schedule that is reviewed on a regular basis and enforced. <br /> Lighting <br /> *The inland lights should be no taller than absolutely necessary and positioned so that the <br /> required downcast lighting not create light pollution in the night sky. <br /> *Special care should be taken regarding the shoreline lighting. Its downcast lighting needs to be <br /> kept low to the ground so as to minimize its visibility from the lake and opposite shores. Can it <br /> be turned on as needed for dock and boat ramp usage instead of being on from dusk to dawn? <br /> Stairways for Units 27-34 <br /> Section 17-5.11 D.(5) of the Ordinance states: " Stairways, lifts and landings must be located in <br /> the most visually inconspicuous portions of lots, as viewed from the surface of the public water <br /> assuming summer, leaf-on conditions, whenever practical." <br /> *Could these units not use the two paths shown on the site plan to access the shoreline rather <br /> than have their own private route,mostly down a steep slope,to the lake? <br /> *If you deem these private stairways to be reasonable and necessary, could they not be <br /> consolidated to two instead of four? <br /> 50' corridor openings <br /> Section 17-7.9 C of the Ordinance states: "All vegetative alterations are subject to the following <br />
