City Council Minutes <br />November 5, 2013 <br />Page 5 of 10 <br />-------------------------- <br />The Mayor stated that the City has been notified that the Minnesota <br />Department of Health has issued its final approval of the City's Wellhead <br />Protection Plan Update. <br />7. Fire <br />Fire report received by Council. <br />7.1. Benefit Level Increase <br />Patrick Selter informed the Council that the Fire Relief Board is <br />recommending increasing the benefit level from $3,100 to $3,500. He <br />reviewed the Relief Association's financials. He explained that the Relief <br />Association is a separate entity from the fire department. The intent of the <br />Relief Association is to manage funds and offer a pension to firefighters. <br />The pension money comes from municipal contributions as part of the fire <br />contract, state fire aid, and investments. <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO INCREASE THE BENEFIT LEVEL FROM <br />$3,100 TO $3,500. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />7.2. Firefiqhter Resianations <br />COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER MOVED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE <br />RESIGNATIONS OF THE FOLLOWING FIREFIGHTERS: <br />• CHRIS CARLSON —12/31/2012 <br />• DAN CERISE —12/21/2012 <br />• MIKE PETERSON — 9/5/2012 <br />COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br />7.3. Fire Enqine Purchase <br />Chief Tom Nelson requested authorization to move forward with the <br />purchase of the Fire Engine through HGACBuy Coope�ative at a price of <br />$415, 943.63. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO <br />MOVE FORWARD WITH THE PURCHASE OF A FIRE ENGINE <br />THROUGH HGACBUY COOPERATIVE AT $415,943.63. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br />0. <br />
