Based on discussions during our September 16t meeting on site with Dave Sjoblad,
Mike Loven, Sandy Peine and Greg Karr, City of Pequot Lakes and staff from our office, we
understand the basic parameters of the project to be as follows:
• The existing facility consists of two areas separated by an existing fire wall. The City
HalVLibrary is in the southern portion and due to work not being done in this area it is not
part of the project scope. The focus of this project is on the northern portion of the
existing facility which houses the vehicle storage for the Police, Fire and Maintenance
Departments as well as the Police Department office area and the Fire Department
meeting room and office.
• Extend the Maintenance Department vehicle storage portion 40'-0"to the north to create
two (2) additional vehicle/equipment storage spaces along with an office, toilet and
storage room. The desire is to remove as much of the existing north exterior wall as
code allows to tie the new and existing Maintenance Department vehicle storage spaces
together. Also, as part of this project the far north floor drain is to be extended to the
west and a new divider wall is to be constructed to the underside of the existing structure
between the existing northern Fire Department stalls and the southern Maintenance
Department stalls.
• The building addition would be a pre-engineered steel building like the existing building.
• Review combining the existing holding tanks—possible future service line extension to a
new sanitary sewer system in this area.
• Demo existing salt shed if required to provide adequate space to build a new bigger
pre-engineered wood salt shed at the present City Hall site.
• Study relocating access road to water treatment plant site to improve flow and better
utilize space on north end of present City Hall site.
• Study constructing two new buildings (9,000 sf Maintenance Department vehicle storage
garage and a salt storage shed) on an alternate site (SW corner of new 4-lane Hwy 371
and Derksen Road).
N:Wlarketing Dept\ProposalsU.etter Proposals\2015 Letter Proposals\Pequot Lakes-Maintenance Facility Addition And Salt Shed.Doca
Engineering I Architecture Surveying I Environmental
