He noted that the Police Department currently has 8 part-
time officers on their roster but many of these officers have full-time jobs
elsewhere. Mr. Denny is trained, familiar with the City's records
management system, and is able to assist during peak summer shifts.
Mayor Sjoblad questioned why the Police Department does not reduce the
number of part-time officers on the roster if they are not available to work.
Chad Turcotte stated that he would like to accomplish this but it is
sometimes beneficial to have a larger roster for holiday shifts.
COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING
OF JAMES DENNY AS A PART-TIME POLICE OFFICER AT STEP 1,
$18.35 PER HOUR, EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 2015. MnDOT anticipates a Notice to Proceed in
November.
• The Construction Cost Share/Maintenance Agreement and the
Jurisdictional Transfer (Turnback) Agreement with Crow Wing County
will be forth coming in November. The Jurisdictional Agreement has
some environmental review language that needs to be clarified prior to
the turnback.
