City Council Minutes May 3, 2011 Page 6 of 8 Akerson requested that the Council receive copies of the surveys after the comment period is closed. Tim Houle requested the Council to begin thinking about methods of paying for the project if the project moves forward. He noted that there are different funds available to the City such as water funds, sanitary sewer funds, and the general tax levy. He stated that there could be the possibility of special assessments, but this would be a decision of the Council. The Clerk noted that Springsted has requested to give a short presentation to the Council on funding options at no cost to the City. The Clerk noted that in the past the City has used Ehlers as its financial consultant. The Council consented to hear from Springsted on funding options. If the project moves forward, the City will request proposals from both Ehlers and Springsted. 12. Clerk's Report Report accepted by Council. 12.1. Council Direction for 2012 Budget Preparation The Clerk noted that City Department Heads will be receiving the 2012 budget worksheets next week. She stated that each budget cycle Nancy Malecha puts together a budget calendar which includes the budget process that we have followed for the past several years. The Clerk questioned if the Council is satisfied with the budget process. She also requested general direction from the Council for the beginning stages of the budget preparation process. Council Member Malecha stated that she is satisfied with the current process. Mayor Adams suggested that staff use an increase of 1.25% for wages which is consistent with the Union increase. Council Member Ryan indicated that his expectation is for budgets to remain the same as last year.
