City Council Minutes <br /> May 3, 2011 <br /> Page 4 of 8 <br /> He stated that the fund is currently soluble at $3300. Larry explained that <br /> increasing the benefit level to $3300 will have no affect on the future levies <br /> because the fund has the funds to sustain that level. <br /> Council Member Ryan stated that the timing of this request is problematic. <br /> He stated that it seems that the 2010 Audit report should be completed <br /> prior to the benefit level being determined. Council Member Ryan stated <br /> that he is not arguing against the request but that he would like some <br /> more time to review this. Council Member Ryan spoke about the future <br /> impact on the City. He noted that the State Auditor suggested that a <br /> projection of assets, liabilities and surplus over the next 5 years should <br /> have been provided to the Council to help them make this decision. <br /> Council Member Ryan stated that the Council was provided with a request <br /> without any assumptions and supporting documentation. Discussion was <br /> held regarding the surplus requirements in the fund. <br /> Council Member Malecha questioned whether the fund pays for a disabled <br /> firefighter. Patrick stated that there are no disability payments through the <br /> fire relief fund. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE —AKERSON — NAY; MALECHA—AYE; RYAN — <br /> �.. NAY; SJOBLAD — AYE; MAYOR ADAMS — NAY. MOTION FAILED 3-2. <br /> MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO INCEASE THE BENEFIT BY $200 AND <br /> TO REVIEW AGAIN WHEN THE AUDIT IS COMPLETE. <br /> Bob Peterson stated that the Council cannot make this motion as the <br /> increase has to be requested by the Fire Relief Association. <br /> The motion died for lack of a second. <br /> 8. Police Department Monthly Report <br /> Report received by Council. <br /> 8.1. Joint Powers Agreement <br /> Acting Chief Petersen stated that this Joint Powers Agreement is between <br /> the State of Minnesota and the City of Pequot Lakes which allows the <br /> BCA to provide criminal justice data communications to the City's Police <br /> Department. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 11- <br /> 12 APPROVING STATE OF MINNESOTA JOINT POWERS <br />
