City Council Minutes <br /> November 1, 2011 <br /> Page 4 <br /> 8.2. Jenkins City Police Contract <br /> Chief Klang presented the City of Jenkins Police Contract for 2012. He <br /> noted that the agreement has been approved by the Jenkins City Council. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 11-21 <br /> ENTERING INTO A LAW ENFORCEMENT CONTRACT AND JOINT <br /> POWERS AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> AND THE CITY OF JENKINS FOR THE YEAR 2012. COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br /> 0. <br /> 8.3. Request to Purchase Equipment <br /> Chief Klang requested Council permission to purchase six tactical rifles. <br /> He explained that there may also be a need to purchase some gun locks <br /> for the rifles. Chief Klang informed the Council that the second bidder did <br /> not submit a bid. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE <br /> PURCHASE OF SIX TACTICAL RIFLES AND GUN LOCKS. COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Council Member Ryan stated his concern as to whether a City of our size <br /> needs this level of fire power. Chief Klang stated that it is his opinion that <br /> the equipment is essential. The Council questioned whether there would <br /> be special training provided. Council Member Akerson questioned if it <br /> would be possible to share training with the County. Chief Klang noted <br /> that training would be provided. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 8.4. Reconsider Police-School Liaison Officer Agreement <br /> Chief Klang noted that the Council previously approved the Police-School <br /> Liaison agreement on September 6th The agreement has since been <br /> revised by the School Board. The School will be voting on this agreement <br /> in November. Chief Klang requested the Council to approve the revised <br /> agreement. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO APPROVE THE REVISED <br /> POLICE SCHOOL LIAISON AGREEMENT FOR THE 2011-2012 <br />
