City Council Minutes <br /> November 1, 2011 <br /> Page 3 <br /> MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 5.3. 2012 Budget and Levy <br /> The Mayor stated that she and Council Member Sjoblad are proposing <br /> further budget cuts to reduce the levy to a .27% increase. The Clerk noted <br /> that Nancy Malecha has prepared the tax rate and levy summary <br /> information. <br /> Council Member Ryan asked for an explanation on how the tax abatement <br /> levy affects the tax rates in Pequot Lakes. <br /> 6. Planning and Zoning <br /> Report received by Council. <br /> 6.1. Well Head Protection Update <br /> Dawn Bittner updated the Council on the City's Well Head Protection Plan. <br /> She informed the Council that staff is in the process of working with the <br /> Minnesota Department of Health to update the City's original plan. <br /> 7. Fire Department <br /> Report received by Council. <br /> 8. Police Department <br /> Police report received by Council. <br /> 8.1. Jenkins Township Police Contract <br /> Chief Klang presented the Jenkins Township Police Contract for 2012. He <br /> noted that the agreement has been approved by the Jenkins Township <br /> Board. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 11- <br /> 20 ENTERING INTO A LAW ENFORCEMENT CONTRACT AND JOINT <br /> POWERS AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> AND JENKINS TOWNSHIP FOR THE YEAR 2012. COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />
