PEQUOT LAKES VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT JOB DESCRIPTIONS / REQUIREMENTS Effective December-2006- This is a general guideline of job descriptions and requirements for a Pequot Lakes Volunteer Firefighter and officers of this department. This list is not all inclusive. Job descriptions and requirements may change at any time due to state guidelines/regulations. Note: Experience on the Pequot Lakes Fire Department of 10 years or more as of December 2006 supersedes required schooling for officers. ASST. CHIEFS— 1st& 2nd Assistants Requirements • Same as basic firefighter plus the following: • Minimum of 7 years on the Pequot Lakes Fire Department • Firefighter 2 certification • Fire Officer 1 certification • Safety Officer class from accredited sectional school or equivalent • Incident command class from accredited sectional school or equivalent • Plus Captains requirements Job Description • Same as basic firefighter plus the following: • Reports directly to chief 1 • May take operations at emergency scenes and/or incidents (operations) when in the officer's seat • Supervises operation of apparatus by others when officer on scene • May serve as a project team leader at drills, fire prevention and other departmental operations • Adheres to a high code of conduct, displays a professional attitude and image not only while on duty but also in personal life while serving as a department officer • Conveys and transmits information verbally or in written form in a clear, concise and appropriate manner • Attends monthly officers meetings • Effectively applies the incident command system at all types of incidents • Provides leadership, supervision and support to the firefighters during operations under extreme conditions • Assists in formulating and implementing policies and procedures/budgets necessary to the operation of the fire department with the fire chief. • Assumes ultimate command of emergency incidents when necessary Rev 5/2015
