PEQUOT LAKES VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> JOB DESCRIPTIONS / REQUIREMENTS <br /> This is a general guideline of job descriptions and requirements for a Pequot Lakes Volunteer <br /> Firefighter and officers of this department. This list is not all inclusive. Job descriptions and <br /> requirements may change at any time due to state guidelines/regulations. <br /> Note: Experience on the Pequot Lakes Fire Department of 10 years or more as of December <br /> 2006 supersedes required schooling for officers. <br /> CHIEF 1 <br /> Requirements <br /> • Same as basic firefighter plus the following: <br /> • Minimum of 10 years on the Pequot Lakes Fire Department <br /> • Fire Officer 2 certification <br /> • Plus Captain and Assistant Chief requirements <br /> Job Description <br /> • Same as basic firefighter plus the following: <br /> • Takes operations at emergency scenes and/or incidents (operations) when in the officer's <br /> seat <br /> • Supervises operation of apparatus by others when officer on scene <br /> • Serves as a project team leader at drills, fire prevention and other departmental operations <br /> • Adheres to a high code of conduct, displays a professional attitude and image not only <br /> while on duty but also in personal life while serving as a department officer <br /> • Conveys and transmits information verbally or in written form in a clear, concise and <br /> appropriate manner <br /> • Oversees all operations on scenes as officer in charge. <br /> • Ultimately responsible for safety and security of fire personnel on all scenes. <br /> • Updates and maintains personnel information, maintenance information, equipment <br /> information on the computer as required by state guidelines <br /> • Formulates and implements polices and procedures necessary to the operation of the <br /> department <br /> • Ensures that equipment, safety clothing, apparatus, communications equipment, supplies <br /> are specified,purchased, received and distributed in an effective manner and consistent <br /> with City policy. <br /> • Allocates, directs, motivates and evaluates departmental personnel to help all areas <br /> function to the highest levels <br /> • Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale, <br /> individual style, quality, creativity and teamwork <br /> • Works with training officers to schedule training sessions <br /> • Attends monthly officers meetings <br /> • Attends monthly staff meetings with Pequot Lakes City Employees <br />
