Cemetery Funds Request <br />Mr. Spiczka said staff is requesting up to $1,500 for fertilizing and weed control in the <br />Cemetery. He said staff would like to do it three times a year in the future which would <br />be about $4,500 per year. Nick Roy said the City currently uses TruGreen and that we <br />have tried to get other companies in but they were more expensive. He stated there is <br />about $80,000 in the Cemetery Fund. <br />COMMISSIONER CLEMENT MOVED TO APPROVE THE USE OF $1,500 FROM THE <br />CEMETERY CASH FUND BALANCE FOR THE APPLICATION OF FERTILIZER AND <br />WEED CONTROL IN THE CITY CEMETERY. COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />10. Administration <br />10.1. Administration Report <br />Mr. Spiczka stated the City received feedback on Officer Jake Wallin's funeral and the <br />City staff involved in the cooperation, preparation, and assistance of the funeral did a <br />great job. <br />He said the Greater Lakes Area Association of Realtors brought in a national team from <br />CRE Consulting to the area and they're studying Brainerd, Baxter and Pequot mostly on <br />the residential and housing side. He said they are looking at housing issues and <br />obstacles for the area. He said they will gather all the data and put a report together to <br />give us. <br />10.2. September 5t' Council Meeting Reminder <br />Mayor Gardner reminded the Council that due to Labor Day the Council meeting will be <br />on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. <br />10.3 Community Clean-up/Shred Event <br />Mr. Spiczka said this came up for a couple of different reasons. He said the City has a <br />large pile of violations with people and businesses with too much stuff in yard. He <br />suggested the City sponsor a clean up day to try to help with these issues. He also said <br />the City had a couple of requests to do a shred event. Mayor Gardner said we used to <br />do it and the County might have some dollars available that would help. He said the City <br />of Jenkins did it last year and they only had two people show up therefore marketing <br />would be very important. Council consensus was to hold an event in spring. <br />
