November 1, 2023
Study of the NW Area
City of Pequot Lakes
Page 2
Water System
As the water system is under pressure, the "lay of the land" is not as important.
We will layout a `main' watermain distribution system — looped wherever possible.
Stormwater Management
WiDSETH
Generally speaking, it has been found that looking at stormwater management from a regional
or tributary area perspective is more beneficial than looking at it on a parcel -by- parcel basis.
Using the publicly available contour information (e.g. LiDAR), we will review where stormwater
management basins could be located.
We would then layout a "backbone" gravity storm sewer collection system.
Street Network
We will look at a layout of the more major streets / street corridors that would be needed (i.e. we
will not get down to every local street or access drive) to provide good circulation and to serve
this area.
NOTE that on the streets as well as the other infrastructure components, we will need to strike a
balance between existing property and parcel lines and potential future property and parcel
lines.
It is not our intent in this Study to force any property owner into a decision.
However, having a potential vision of future infrastructure improvements can assist both private
parties and the City when it comes time for future decisions on property line and parcel
changes.
Draft Figures
We will take the above information and prepare draft sketches / figures.
City Committee Meeting
As part of the Main and Front Study, there was to be a City Committee that would meet with us.
This Committee would consist of the City Administrator, the City Public Works lead, the City
Water/Wastewater Operator, the City Zoning Administrator, the City Zoning Specialist, and up to
two City Council Members (we would submit, with changes in the City Administrator position,
that at least the Mayor be involved if at all possible).
We would review the Draft Figures with this Committee, and get feedback.
WMarketing Dept \Proposals\00 Letter Proposals\2023 Letter Proposals \Pequot Lakes NW Area Amend \Pequot Lakes - NW Area Study Amendment -
20231101.docx
