November 3,2014
Proposal for Old 371 —Main to Rae WIDSETH
City of Pequot Lakes SMITH
Page 4 NOLTING
4. Field survey all underground and above ground features of the existing Gravdahl infiltration
basin to prepare a base map.
If an overflow of this basin is needed, and after review with the City, we would conduct a
field survey south past the City lift station and then to the east towards a natural low area
as an Additional Service.
5. Analyze watermain depth via gate valve depths.
If the resulting cover with the new roadway profile is a cause of concern, as an
Additional Service, we will review with the City and determine whether digging down and
insulating or replacing the watermain at a deeper depth is the best course of action.
6. Analyze sanitary sewer depth via manhole depths.
If the resulting cover with the new roadway profile is a cause of concern, as an
Additional Service, we will review with the City and determine whether digging down and
insulating or replacing the sanitary sewer at a deeper depth is the best course of action.
7. Review with the City where they want to incorporate additional watermain valves along Old
371 and include these in the drawings.
8. If the City so desires, and as an Additional Service, we can review with staff on how we are
going to extend watermain and serve the area from the east side of Old 371 over to the new
4-lane Highway 371.
9. If the City so desires, and as an Additional Service, we can review with staff on how we are
going to extend sanitary sewer and serve the area from the east side of Old 371 over to the
new 4-lane Highway 371.
10. Review the needed volume versus the existing volume of the existing Gravdahl infiltration
basin. Review deepening it as needed.
11. Review grades of the new street and the elevation of the existing Gravdahl infiltration basin
(may need to deepen it) to determine if gravity storm sewer can run along the whole
corridor.
12. There may be a location or two—initial indications are that it might be between the north
and south legs of Rae—where gravity storm sewer to the existing Gravdahl infiltration basin
will not work.
If this is the case, a new infiltration basin will need to be designed and constructed near
an intermediate low point. It would also involve permanent easement definition and
acquisition. Should this be the case, we will first review the scope and effort with the City
and treat it as an Additional Service.
13. Design a new storm sewer system of catch basins/curb inlets and piping for a 5-year storm.
14. With the additional flow to the existing Gravdahl infiltration basin over the present, look into
where overflow from this basin would be routed.
N:\Marketing Dept\Proposals\.Letter Proposals\2014 Letter Proposals\Pequot Lakes-Old 371 -20141103.docx
