November 3,201WIDSETH Proposal f or Old 3 71
—Main to Rae
City of Pequot Lakes SMITH
Page 2 NOLTING
n. The volume of this infiltration basin will need to be reviewed. Overflow of this infiltration
basin in big storms should be looked at; possibly creating an overflow grassed swale to the
south past the City lift station and then to the east towards a natural low area. This would
involve easement definition and acquisition.
o. From Crow Wing County's GIS website, it looks like there is 66 feet of Right-of-Way(R/W)
for the first block to Butler, but then only 33 feet"recorded" on the west side down to
Woodman. The City would need to formally obtain/properly record 66 feet of R/W.
p. There is watermain under the roadway. There are no known problems, so it should not have
to be replaced. However, the bury depth will be reviewed via valve depths. If a curb and
guttered street lessens the cover over the watermain, insulation may need to be
incorporated. Or, worse case, the watermain will need to be lowered.
q. This may be the opportunity, though, for the City to install a few more valves in the
watermain (usually at intersections).
r. There is no sanitary sewer under the roadway.
From East Woodman Street to the south leq of Gravdahl Drive (about 650 feet)
a. Curb and guttered street.
b. Two traffic lanes, each 12 feet wide.
c. No parallel parking lanes. There will be 2 feet wide concrete gutters from edge of travel lane
to face of curb.
d. The total width of the street will be 28 feet face-of-curb to face-of-curb.
e. There will not be any widening at or additional turn lanes for intersections.
f. A sidewalk on one side, 6 feet wide. The side will be determined during design.
g. The sidewalk would be placed back at the edge of the R/W so there is a grassed boulevard
between the C&G and the sidewalk.
h. With a 66 feet wide R/W, a 28 feet wide street, and 6 feet of sidewalk on one side, there
would be a little over 12 feet of grassed boulevard on one side.
i. No decorative street lights.
j. Trees in the grassed boulevards (each one will not survive; it will take a while before they
become mature).
k. With the C&G, curb inlets/catch basins and storm sewer pipe will be needed.
I. The initial plan is to pipe the drainage down to the existing infiltration basin on the north and
east side of the intersection with the south leg of Gravdahl Drive.
m. Except for an east-west crossing at Gravdahl Drive (similar comments on cover to those
made in regards to watermain), there is no sanitary sewer under the roadway.
N:\Marketing Dept\Proposals\.Letter Proposals\2014 Letter Proposals\Pequot Lakes-Old 371 -20141103.docx
