I know it is long, but we want to ensure
we are meeting the desires of the City Council.
For reference, the paved roadway is about 22 feet wide (admittedly, this width varies a bit, and it
is wider in the block between Main Street and Butler Street).
From CSAH 11 / Main Street to East Woodman Street(a little over 700 feet)
a. Curb and guttered street.
b. Two traffic lanes, each 12 feet wide.
c. Two parallel parking lanes, each 8 feet wide from edge of travel lane to face of curb.
d. The total width of the street will be 40 feet face-of-curb to face-of-curb.
e. On the south side of the intersection at Main Street(the present 4-way Stop), there will be
no parking, one through lane to the south, a left turn lane northbound (to westbound), and a
combined northbound straight—northbound (to eastbound) right turn lane.
f. Sidewalks on both sides, each 6 feet wide, from Main Street to Butler.
g. A sidewalk just on the east side, 6 feet wide, from Butler to Woodman (there is a big `hole'
on the west side that would make the fill or wall to provide room for a sidewalk pretty
expensive).
h. The sidewalks would be placed back at the edge of the R/W so there are grassed
boulevards between the C&G's and the sidewalks.
i. With a 66 feet wide R/W, a 40 feet wide street, and 12 feet of sidewalks, there would be a
little over 6 feet of grassed boulevard on each side.
j. Decorative street lights alternating on each side in the grassed boulevards.
k. Trees in the grassed boulevards (each one will not survive; it will take a while before they
become mature).
I. With the C&G, curb inlets/catch basins and storm sewer pipe will be needed.
m. The initial plan is to pipe the drainage down to the existing infiltration basin on the north and
east side of the intersection with the south leg of Gravdahl Drive.
Engineering Architecture I Surveying Environmental
