City Council Minutes <br /> April 3,2023 <br /> Page 8of10 <br /> 8.3 Officer Resignation <br /> The Council acknowledged part-time Police Officer Jonti Roos's resignation and <br /> thanked him for his service. Mayor Gardner stated he knew he picked up a lot of <br /> shifts the last couple years and thanked him for that. <br /> 9. Public Works <br /> 9.1. Public Works Report <br /> The Council said that the Public Works Department is doing a great job <br /> especially considering all the snow for the season and thanked them for all their <br /> hard work. <br /> Mayor Gardner stated Jack Schmidt gave him a note of appreciation to the city <br /> for its snow removal. <br /> 9.2. Maintenance Position Hiring Approval <br /> Mr. Spiczka stated they just went through a screening process with the <br /> applicants. He said he just received word today that the applicant they selected <br /> to hire accepted the position at grade 10, step 2. He stated the ne hires name is <br /> Ken Evgen and he has a lot of experience with equipment maintenance and <br /> industrial experience working on equipment. He said his start date will be April <br /> 24, 2023. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING MOVED TO HIRE KEN EVGEN AT GRADE 10, <br /> STEP 2 WITH A START DATE OF APRIL 24, 2023. COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 9.3 Larsen Parkway Extension Engineering Proposal <br /> Tim Houle gave some background on the Larsen Parkway in the HOTGL. He <br /> stated the city was able to start the extension of Larsen Parkway into the HOTGL <br /> with some funding assistance from a grant. He said that helped extend water and <br /> sanitary sewer coming in from the present end of the industrial park at <br /> Morehouse and down Dirksen. He stated Excel Energy built their facility on the <br /> east side of Larson Parkway and on the west side between Larson Parkway and <br /> the Paul Bunyan Trail is a lot that is for sale and a stormwater basin for the city. <br /> He said the proposal in the packet is to extend the roadway alongside this <br /> proposed lot for the apartment building that would go in between Paul Bunyan <br /> Trail and another extension of Larson Parkway. He said they are currently <br /> working on the plat for the apartment building lot. <br /> Mr. Houle stated the challenge with doing the bit by bit extensions into the <br /> HOTGL is designing the stormwater. He stated financially it is good for the city to <br /> go step by step but the city may want to look at its selling price as it was set <br /> some years back.
