City Council Minutes <br /> April 3, 2023 <br /> Page 7 of 10 <br /> APPROVAL. COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 3-0. MAYOR GARDNER ABSTAINED. <br /> 7. Fire <br /> 7.1. Fire Report <br /> The March 2023 Fire District Activity Report, PLFD Vehicle Policy, 2023 <br /> Amended Budget and March 13, 2023 Joint Power Agenda was received by <br /> Council. <br /> 7.2 Pequot Lakes Fire District Contract <br /> Mayor Gardner stated the 2023 Contract for Fire Services with the Pequot Lakes <br /> Fire District and Fire Relief Association is attached. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT MOVED TO APPROVE THE 2023-2024 <br /> CONTRACT FOR FIRE SERVICES WITH THE PEQUOT LAKES FIRE <br /> DISTRICT FOR$102,189.31 AND FIRE RELIEF ASSOCIATION FOR <br /> $15,060.16. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Discussion ensued about the prior contract cost and additional $20,000 <br /> equipment cost. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 8. Police <br /> Discussion ensued about the Fire Department responding to the south end of <br /> Patriot avenue and Highway 371 due to the snow and snow piles at 371. <br /> Discussion also ensued about the five accidents in one month at that <br /> intersection. <br /> 8.1 Office Recognition <br /> The Council recognized Police Office Sheri Fyle for the attached letter from a <br /> student at the school. <br /> 8.2 Police Officer Hire <br /> Police Chief Mike Davis said that Chris Melin has accepted the full-time Police <br /> Officer position at step five and with ninety six hours of vacation. He said his start <br /> date is April 17, 2023. Chief Davis said Mr. Melin is a ten year Police veteran and <br /> is a current Sergeant. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT MOVED TO HIRE CHRIS MELIN AS A FULL- <br /> TIME POLICE OFFICER STARTING AT STEP FIVE WITH NINTY SIX HOURS <br /> OF VACATION TIME. COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br />
