City Council Minutes <br /> July 1, 2008 <br /> Page 8 of 10 <br /> Council Member Sjoblad indicated that if the Council would consider <br /> waiving the two quote requirement for this project, the City would save <br /> several thousand dollars on engineering fees. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER ORASKOVICH MOVED TO WAIVE THE TWO <br /> QUOTE REQUIREMENT AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO OBTAIN A <br /> QUOTE FOR THE PROJECT FROM ANDERSON BROTHERS. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 11.3. Increase Threshold for Purchasing or Repairs to $5,000 <br /> Council Member Sjoblad indicated that the Street Department is <br /> requesting to increase the requirement for two quotes authorized by the <br /> Council from $2,500 to $5,000. He noted that it would allow projects to get <br /> things done in a timely manner. The Clerk noted that she would like to see <br /> the same requirement for all departments. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO AMEND THE REQUIREMENT <br /> TO PROVIDE TWO QUOTES FOR PURCHASES OR REPAIRS FROM <br /> $2,500 TO $5,000. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. <br /> Council Member Ryan stated that the requirement for two quotes does not <br /> require Council approval if it is a budgeted item. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 12. Engineering <br /> 12.1. Trailside Estates Update <br /> Tim Houle reviewed the final completion date and extensions given by the <br /> Council for the project. He noted that the original agreement had a final <br /> completion date of June 30, 2007. This date was extended by the Council <br /> to August 29, 2007 and then another extension of 30 days was given. <br /> There was then no official extension requested through the winter. At the <br /> last Council meeting the Council directed a letter to be sent to the <br /> developer stating that all punch list items and financial obligations be paid <br /> by June 30 or developer would be in default. <br /> Tim Houle then explained that the City hired Landecker to be the on site <br /> representative. He noted that Landecker sent out two letters on June 26; <br /> one indicated that the project is substantially complete and one stating <br />
