City Council Minutes July 1, 2008 Page 7of10 Council Member Nagel had some questions relating to procedure. He was informed that at this time the City of Pequot Lakes and Jenkins Township has not filed any annexation papers with the State; however, the City of Jenkins has filed intent to annex. Council Member Nagel indicated that it seems clear that many residents want us to slow down the process and he stated he would not feel comfortable forcing citizens to annex if it is not their will. Council Member Sjoblad noted that the issue seems to be the inability of the opposition to explain what they actually would like to see happen and why they are not in support of the annexation to Pequot Lakes. Tim Keene stated that the group needs time to research. It was the consensus of the Council to reschedule the work session meeting in August. 10.5. Update on South Oak Property Incident The Clerk noted that she has met with the property owner and that he has requested some time to discuss the issue with the City. Council Member Sjoblad indicated he would meet with the property owner. 11. Maintenance Supervisor's Report Report by received by Council. 11.1. Request to Purchase Tax Forfeit Land Council Member Sjoblad indicated that the City already has storm water discharge pipes on the south end of the property. COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO PURCHASE THE TAX FORFEIT PROPERTY— LOTS 3, 4, 5, & 6, BLOCK 3 & ADJACENT PORTION OF VACATED OAK STREET— KLATTE'S ADDITION TO THE VILLAGE OF PEQUOT AT $33,000 PLUS ASSOCIATED FEES WHICH TOTAL $34,194 FOR STORM WATER RETENTION FUNDED BY 75% FROM THE STORM WATER FUND, 25% FROM THE SOUTH OAK STREET CAPITAL OUTLAY CARRYOVER FUND. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 11.2. Cole Buildinq Parking Lot Work
