10.6 All employees who, because of their duties are asked to remain away from their <br /> home portals, shall receive compensation for food and lodging reasonably and <br /> necessarily incurred in accordance with the City of Pequot Lakes Travel/Expense <br /> Reimbursement Policy and reimbursement for mileage incurred, if authorized to <br /> use the employee's private vehicle, at the IRS applicable established mileage rate, <br /> and direct travel time to and from shall be compensated as paid work time. <br /> ARTICLE 11 <br /> SICK LEAVE <br /> 11.1 Full-time employees shall earn sick leave with pay at the rate of 8 hours per <br /> month. Sick leave shall be accrued on a semi-monthly basis. Sick leave shall <br /> accumulate to a maximum of nine hundred sixty (960) hours and may be granted <br /> in increments of not less than one (1)hour. <br /> 11.2 Upon separation from employment, due to retirement, voluntary or involuntary <br /> termination for whatever reason, all employees with five years of service to the <br /> City of Pequot Lakes shall receive ten (10%) percent of their unused sick leave. <br /> Employees with ten (10) or more years of service shall receive twenty-five (25%) <br /> percent of their unused sick leave. <br /> 11.3 An employee shall be granted sick leave with pay when the employee is unable to <br /> work due to illness, the necessity for medical, chiropractic or dental care, <br /> childbirth or pregnancy disability, sickness of a member of the employee's <br /> "immediate family" subject to Section 11.4 hereof, or exposure to contagious <br /> disease where such exposure may endanger the health of others with whom the <br /> employee would come in contact in the course of duty. <br /> 11.4 In the event of serious illness in the immediate family of the employee, sick leave <br /> may be used to provide necessary care which requires the presence of the <br /> employee and which cannot be obtained in another manner. For purposes of this <br /> Subsection, "immediate family" shall be construed to mean the employee's <br /> parents or spouse, or minor children or minor step-children living in the home. <br /> 11.5 The Employer may require the employee to submit a medical certificate, in a form <br /> satisfactory to the Employer, in the event of absence of three (3) days or more, or <br /> if the Employer reasonably suspects misuse or excessive use of sick leave. Abuse <br /> of sick leave may be cause for disciplinary action. <br /> 11.6 Employees shall notify their supervisor by telephone or other means at the earliest <br /> opportunity when they will be unable to report to work as scheduled because of <br /> illness. Such notice shall be given as soon as possible prior to the start of the shift <br /> which will be missed because of illness or injury. <br /> 22794-1(9.16.08) 11 <br />
