9.6 All official holidays shall be considered to commence at the beginning of the first
shift of the day on which the holiday is observed and continue for twenty-four
hours thereafter.
9.7 Regular part-time employees are entitled to holiday pay on a prorata basis
according to the number of hours they worked in the previous calendar year. The
prorata amount for the first year of employment will be based on a projected
number of hours that the employee is expected to work.
ARTICLE 10
WORK SCHEDULES
10.1 The normal workweek shall be an average of eighty (80) hours in a two (2) week
pay period.
10.2 The normal work year shall consist of two thousand eighty (2080) hours, to be
accounted for by each employee through:
a. Hours worked on assigned shifts;
b. Holidays;
c. Authorized paid leave time.
Nothing contained in this or any other Article shall be interpreted to be a guarantee
of a minimum or maximum number of hours the Employer may assign employees.
10.3 Employees may switch shifts upon approval of the Police Chief or designee and
provided such switching does not result in an obligation to pay overtime.
10.4 Work schedules shall be established by the Police Chief. The recurring pattern of
shifts may be changed upon thirty (30) days advance written notice to the Union,
except where extenuating circumstances necessitate a shorter notice. Schedule
changes to cover shifts which become vacant due to an officer's temporary
absence do not require thirty(30) days advance notice.
10.5 When an employee is required by the Police Chief to attend classes in Law
Enforcement, the employee shall be compensated at the regular rate of pay, for
time actually spent in attendance at the class. Documentation of actual class time
must be provided. Direct travel time to and from the training may be compensated
at the employee's straight time rate of pay, if approved by the Police Chief per
Department policy. Travel expense reimbursement is subject to the City of Pequot
Lakes Travel/Expense Reimbursement Policy.
22794-1(9.16.08) 10
