8.7 Overtime shifts shall be offered in order of seniority to available, qualified <br /> employees. A shift which is worked by a part-time employee at straight time is <br /> not considered an overtime shift. <br /> ARTICLE 9 <br /> HOLIDAYS <br /> 9.1 All full-time employees shall receive eight (8) hours holiday pay for the following <br /> paid holidays: <br /> New Year's Day Martin Luther King Day <br /> President's Day Memorial Day <br /> Fourth of July Labor Day <br /> Veteran's Day Thanksgiving Day <br /> Christmas Day <br /> In addition, the employee shall receive sixteen (16) hours of personal leave. <br /> Holidays shall be celebrated on the day that they occur. <br /> Sick leave may not be used immediately before or after a holiday, unless <br /> authorized by the Police Chief. <br /> 9.2 An employee who works on any of the above mentioned holidays (excluding <br /> personal leave day) shall receive pay at one and one-half (11/2) times the <br /> employee's regular straight time hourly rate for all such hours worked on the <br /> holiday, plus straight time holiday pay for the employee's scheduled hours worked <br /> for the holiday. If the employee does not work the holiday, the employee shall <br /> receive eight(8) hours holiday pay. <br /> 9.3 Personal leave days shall be paid at the Employee's regular straight time wage <br /> rate. An employee wishing to take a personal leave day must obtain permission <br /> from the Police Chief or designee. Personal leave time may be utilized by the <br /> employee one (1) hour at a time. <br /> 9.4 When a paid holiday falls during a vacation period, the employee shall receive <br /> straight time pay for that holiday and be entitled to another day of vacation. <br /> 9.5 Holidays shall be considered time worked for the purposes of computing overtime <br /> or compensatory time. <br /> 22794-1(9.16.08) 9 <br />
