City Council Minutes <br /> October 7, 2008 <br /> Page 4 of 8 <br /> Tom Nelson informed the Council of the Fire Department's annual open house <br /> which is scheduled for October 8, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Pequot <br /> Lakes Fire Hall. <br /> Mr. Nelson also stated that four firefighters have been hired giving the department <br /> a total of 32 firefighters. <br /> 8. Water/Wastewater Supervisor's Report <br /> Report received by Council. <br /> 8.1. Ordinance Amendment Relating to Disconnection Procedures <br /> Gary Giltner discussed the reasons for the ordinance amendment citing higher <br /> certified mail costs and an opinion from the League of MN Cities preferring first <br /> class mail for disconnection notices. Mr. Giltner stated that the <br /> Water/Wastewater Department is committed to notifying occupants before a <br /> disconnection occurs by giving a thirty day mailed notice, hanging a door tag, and <br /> �.. notification by phone. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 08-10, <br /> SECOND SERIES AMENDING CHAPTER 15 OF THE CITY CODE <br /> RELATING TO WATER REGULATIONS TO READ DISCONNECTION <br /> WRITTEN NOTICE WILL BE SENT VIA FIRST CLASS RATHER THAN <br /> CERTIFIED MAIL RETURN RECEIPT OR PERSONAL SERVICE; AND <br /> FURTHER,PENDING APPROVAL FROM THE CITY ATTORNEY. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER ORASKOVICH SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 9. Police Chief's Report <br /> Report received by Council. <br /> 9.1. Vehicle Policy <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER ORASKOVICH MOVED TO AMEND THE <br /> VEHICLE POLICY TO READ A 15 MILE RADIUS RATHER THAN A 15 <br /> MINUTE RESPONSE TIME TO DETERMINE IF POLICE <br /> DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES ARE ELIGIBLE TO DRIVE POLICE <br /> VEHICLES HOME. COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE <br /> �... MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />
