1. The Senior Citizens want to continue to use the building, but cannot pay
associated costs. Because this is a City building, the City began covering those
costs in August.
2. The Historical Society wants to continue to use the basement for a museum and
the main floor occasionally for special events.
3. The City should not allow other groups to use the building through the Historical
Society or the Senior Citizens
ACTION ITEMS:
1. Update the lease with the Historical Society.
2. Continue to budget for costs associated with maintaining the main floor of the
building (heat, electricity, phone, cleaning).
3. Decide how the City would like to utilize the building.
There is a shortage of meeting space for community groups and meetings. Does
the Council want to consider allowing this building to be used for meeting space
by community groups? If this is the case, staff would draft a policy for use of the
building. (This policy would ultimately be approved by the Council).
