She noted that budget line <br />item increases of over $2,500 are listed in the Council memo. ln order to <br />reach a 3% levy increase, the Council will have to cut an amount of <br />approximately $109,000, This evening is the time to make budget cuts or <br />amendments with the goal of reaching an agreeable preliminary levy <br />number. The Council reviewed the budgets. <br />HRA Budset - There was no increase in the HRA budget. No action <br />taken. <br />Council Budqet - Council Member Pederson suggested removing two <br />tablets from the budget as Council Members should be able to use their <br />own tablets. <br />Clgrk's Budqet - Major increase is from a part time employee going to <br />full time and an increase in health insurance <br />Planninq and Zoninq - Discussion was held regarding other options for a <br />City Planner other than Community Growth. Mayor Adams stated that she <br />and Council Member Gardner have looked into other option and have <br />concluded that the City is satisfied with Justin Burslie of Community <br />Growth. No Change to the budget. <br />General Buildinq - Mike Loven noted that the increase in this budget is <br />due to the City taking over maintenance of the Chamber building. He <br />noted that there will be an increase in revenues from the Chamber paying <br />rent; however the rent payments will not cover the City's entire costs for <br />maintaining the building. <br />Pol,ice - The increase in this budget is related to an increase in overtime <br />hours and increased hours for part time officers. Council Member Sjoblad <br />stated that the City has not seen an increase in service contracts from <br />Jenkins Township, Jenkins City and the School for several years. Chief <br />Klang stated that the City is charging a fair price for the services received <br />The Council questioned the need for a new portable radio at a cost of <br />$2,500. <br />Fire Contract - No cha nges <br />Roads and Streets - Mike Loven stated that he has cut the ca pital outlay <br />budget to $175,000 for the Old Highway 371 upgrade. lf curb, gutter and <br />storm sewer are added to the project, the cost could increase to $350,000 <br />- $400,000.
