SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br />TUESDAY, AUGUST 19, 2014 <br />PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br />Members Present: Mayor Adams, Council Members Sjoblad, Pederson, and <br />Akerson <br />Members Absent: Council Member Gardner <br />Staff Present Sandra Peine, City Clerk; Eric Klang, Chief of Police; Chad <br />Turcotte, Sergeant; Mike Loven, Public Works Supervisor; <br />Tom Nelson, Fire Chief; Dawn Bittner, Zoning Administrator; <br />Nancy Malecha, Finance Administrator/Deputy City Clerk; <br />and Dave Anderson, Library Board <br />1. Call Meetinq to Order <br />Mayor Adams called the meeting of the Pequot Lakes City Council to <br />order at 6:00 p,m. <br />2. Consider Aqenda <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 4.0. <br />3. Capital lmprovement Plan <br />The Capital lmprovement Plan is provided for Council review. This plan is <br />used as a fiscal planning tool and helps to coordinate city expenditures <br />among departments. The plan will continue to change as priorities change <br />and funding allows. <br />Discussion was held on the number of vehicles in the police department <br />and the necessity of having new cameras in the squad cars. <br />4. 2015 Preliminarv Budqet Review <br />The City Clerk noted that the general fund budgets presented this evening <br />have been reduced from last month per Council direction. The levy <br />budgets project a preliminary tax levy of $1 ,642,903 which is a $154,530 <br />(10.38%) increase from 2014. The Clerk explained that staff is requesting <br />the Council to work toward a preliminary budget number which will be set <br />at the September 3'd Council meeting, The Clerk noted that the Council <br />direction at the last meeting was for staff to present a preliminary levy of
