City Council Minutes <br /> May 6, 2008 <br /> Page 5 of 9 <br /> maybe the ordinance amendment was being done too strongly and too <br /> quickly. <br /> Council Member Ryan suggested that there be more of an education <br /> process to help understand what is actually being done with the proposed <br /> ordinance. <br /> MOTION FAILED 3-2. COUNCIL MEMBERS SJOBLAD, ORASKOVICH <br /> AND MAYOR MALECHA VOTING AYE. COUNCIL MEMBERS NAGEL <br /> AND RYAN VOTING NAY. (MOTION NEEDS A 415TH VOTE TO PASS) <br /> Mayor Malecha requested the Planning Commission to re-examine and <br /> the conservation subdivision ordinance and to look at the Council's <br /> concerns. <br /> 7. Fire Department Report <br /> Report received by Council. <br /> 7.1 . Fire Relief Benefit Level Increase <br /> L The Clerk noted that the Fire Relief Association has voted to increase the <br /> benefit level contribution from $2,500 to $2,900 per year. She indicated <br /> that they fund is fully funded at this time. Discussion was held regarding <br /> what happens if the fund is not fully funded at some time. The Clerk noted <br /> that it would be the responsibility of the City to pay the difference. <br /> Council Member Ryan stated that the Relief is asking for a 16% increase. <br /> He questioned why a 16% increase. Council Member Ryan indicated that <br /> he would like some history as to what the level has been at in the past and <br /> how often it has increased. Council Member Ryan questioned whether all <br /> entities that contract with the Fire Department have been notified of this <br /> increase? <br /> This item was tabled until there could be representation from the Fire <br /> Department to provide the Council with more information on this request. <br /> The Council noted that it was not necessarily against the increase but <br /> wanted more information regarding the increase. <br /> 8. Water/Wastewater Monthly Report <br /> Report received by Council. <br /> 9. Police Chief Monthly Report <br />
