Request for Funding for Equipment Purchase <br /> Sergeant Franz explained the pros to having Heart Level monitors and what they <br /> have used them for recently. He explained that he has been looking for grants <br /> and other funding sources to help cover the cost, but he stated that they still <br /> need approximately$6,000 to cover the cost of the device. He stated that this <br /> item is an unexpected expenditure and not in the budget. He is requesting <br /> approval to use money from the general fund. <br /> Mayor Gardner asked Sergeant Franz if they could use forfeiture funds for this <br /> purchase and he asked to put a portion of the cost in the budget every year to <br /> plan for future purchases. Sergeant Franz stated that he would have to double <br /> check if they could use forfeiture funds for this. Mayor Gardner stated that life <br /> saving equipment is listed as an approved use of these funds. <br /> Joe Klatt represented the Jenkins VFW and stated that the Police Chief Kiang <br /> approached him to see if they could donate the money to purchase these devices <br /> and he is bringing it to his board meeting and will get an answer to Sergeant <br /> Franz after their board meeting. <br /> • MAYOR GARDNER MOTIONED TO ALLOWING UP TO$6,000 TO BE USED <br /> OUT OF THE FORFEITURE FUND TO PURCHASE HEART LEVEL <br /> MONITORS. COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 8.4. APEX Officer Sourcewell Grant <br /> Sergeant Franz explained that Apex Officer is a virtual reality training. He stated <br /> the cost is $70,000 but there is a grant through Sourcewell that the City of <br /> Pequot Lakes could join the City of Breezy Point and the City of Nisswa to apply <br /> for this grant. He explained that there would be no cost to City and the grant will <br /> cover all of the cost, but they need recognition from the City that they will be a <br /> part of this. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT MOVED TO APPROVE RESOLUTION 22-13 <br /> SUPPORTING AND AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR SOURCEWELL <br /> COMMUNITY IMPACT FUNDING FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS GRANT <br /> SUBMITTAL. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE—MAYOR GARDNER—AYE; COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> CLEMENT—AYE; COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON—AYE; COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER RONNING—NAY. MOTION CARRIED 3-1. <br /> 9. Public Works <br /> • 9.1. Public Works Report <br /> The March 2022 Public Works Monthly Report was received by Council. <br />
