Adoption of Joint Powers Agreement for Fire Department <br /> Mayor Gardner stated that they are looking for approval of the Joint Powers <br /> Agreement for the Fire Department between the City of Breezy Point and the City <br /> of Pequot Lakes. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING MOVED TO APPROVE THE RESOLUTION <br /> ADOPTING THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF <br /> BREEZY POINT AND THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES. COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE—MAYOR GARDNER—AYE; COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> CLEMENT—AYE; COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON—AYE; COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER RONNING—AYE. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> Fire Chief Nelson asked if the City will be advertising for the Joint Powers Board <br /> and the Mayor said that yes the City will be. Mayor Gardner stated the Mayor, a <br /> Council Member and an alternative Council Member needs to be assigned to the <br /> Joint Powers Board. They must attend 75% of the meetings which are monthly <br /> the first year and quarterly the second year. The terms follow the elected terms. <br /> • The first meeting will be on May 9, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the Fire Hall classroom. <br /> Council Member Clement volunteered to be on the Board and Council Member <br /> Pederson volunteered for the alternative. Mr. Spiczka will place the ad and asked <br /> if the Council to reach out to anyone that they thought would be interested to <br /> apply. <br /> 8. Police <br /> 8.1 Police Department Monthly Report <br /> The February 2022 Police Department Monthly Report was received by Council. <br /> Mayor Gardner asked why the report is two months behind every month and <br /> Police Sergeant Franz explained that with the Council packet due date they <br /> cannot get the full prior month for the report. <br /> 8.2. Reauest to Hire Full-Time Police Officer <br /> Police Sergeant Franz requested the Council approve hiring Derek Johnson as a <br /> Full-Time Police Officer. He informed the Council that the background and pre- <br /> employment screening have been completed successfully. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING MOVED TO HIRE DEREK JOHNSON AS A <br /> FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER AT GRADE 13, STEP 3 CONTINGENT ON <br /> • SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE BACKGROUD AND PRE- <br /> EMPLOYMENT SCREENING. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED <br /> THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br />
