Park Commission Minutes <br /> March 10,2022 <br /> Page 2 <br /> 6. Splash Pad - Update <br /> Ms. Peterson stated that the original donor(FM Foundation)for the splash pad <br /> will not reimburse the city for the down payment for the Splash Pad. There <br /> should be enough funds to cover the down payment with park dedication funds <br /> and donations collected so far. <br /> Discussion ensued regarding down payment, total fundsdonated, the original <br /> donor felt the city steered away from the original plan and took a long time to <br /> construct the splash pad. <br /> 7. Trailside Park Holiday Decorations - Recap <br /> Ms. Peterson stated the "Griswold" Committee met on February 24, 2022, to <br /> discuss a plan for Trailside Park Holiday decorations: <br /> • City Council approved $2,000 of the $9,148 franchise fee carryover for <br /> Parks is designated foi the decorations. Chamber has a $1,000 donation <br /> to be used for holiday decorations, and budget for 2022 is $1,800, for a <br /> total of$4,800 for 2022 <br /> • The Committee really light up the park and get businesses to get more <br /> involved to light up the community <br /> • The Committee wish list is $20,000 for the budget for lights <br /> • The city will be replacing the light posts this spring <br /> Discussion ensued regarding adding more decorations, brighten up the park, and <br /> franchise fees. <br /> 8. /Franchise Fees <br /> Ms, Peterson asked the Park Commission where they would like to designate the <br /> remaining 2021 carryover funds of$7,148 and the 2022 Franchise fees. <br /> Discussion ensued regarding 2021 carryover funds, 2022 Franchise fees, splash <br /> pad, Sibley Lake,Park improvements, and holiday decorations. <br /> COMMISSIONER CHURACK MOVED TO DESIGNATE THE $7,148 TO THE <br /> CONSTRUCTION OF THE SPLASH PAD. COMMISSIONER BOUCHER <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-2. CHAIR JOHNSON AND <br /> COMMISSIONER MOELLER OPPOSED THE MOTION. <br /> Consensus of the commission is to designate the 2022 Franchise fees quarterly. <br />
