City Council Minutes <br />July 1, 2014 <br />Page 5 of 9 <br />Report received by Council. <br />8.1. School Resource Officer Contract <br />Chief Klang presented the Police-School Liaison Officer Agreement for the <br />2014-15 School Year. He noted that there has been no change from the <br />last agreement. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE 2014-15 <br />SCHOOL LIAISON AGREEMENT. COUNCILMEMBER SJOBLAD <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />9. Public Works <br />9.2. Street Liqht Option for North Washington Avenue <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE OPTION B FOR <br />THE STREET LIGHT. MAYOR ADAMS SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO APPROVE OPTION A FOR THE STREET <br />LIGHT ARM. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />Council Member Pederson questioned whether the Council decided on a <br />height for the sign. The Engineer stated that the bid was approved by the <br />Council with a 20 foot height for the poles. Council Member Pederson <br />questioned the standard height of light poles. The Engineer noted that <br />MnDOT's standard is 30 feet for highways and 20 feet for urban areas. He <br />noted that the sign post could be lower but if banners or flower pots are <br />placed on the pole and they are too low, vandalism could occur. Council <br />Member Gardner suggested that the size of trucks should be considered. <br />He noted that there would be truck deliveries made using Washington <br />Avenue. Council Member Pederson stated that he feels that 20 feet is too <br />high for a pedestrian area. <br />9.3. Quotes for Electrical Svstem for Street Lights <br />Tim Houle presented the Council with the plans for the electrical system <br />for the street lights on North Washington Avenue. MnDOT has lighting <br />standards. For a local roadway, the 4 street lights should provide the <br />recommended light. He requested the Council to obtain quotes for the <br />electrical system. <br />
