Acknowledqement of Police Officer Resiqnation <br />Chad Turcotte informed the Council that Rich Hogan has submitted a <br />letter of resignation from the police department effective April 8, 2014. He <br />stated that Officer Hogan has been with the department for over ten years. <br />The Council acknowledged Rich Hogan's letter of resignation. The Council <br />offered their appreciation for Rich's years of employment and wished him <br />well. <br />8.2 Request Authorization to Advertise for Police Officer <br />Sergeant Turcotte requested authorization to advertise for the position of <br />police officer and to create a hiring list that would be valid for up to one <br />year to fill vacancies. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO ADVERTISE FOR THE <br />POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER TO FILL THE VACANCY CREATED <br />BY OFFICER HOGAN AND TO CREATE A HIRING LIST WHICH <br />WOULD BE VALID FOR ONE YEAR TO FILL VACANCIES. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br />0. <br />9. Public Works <br />9.1. North Washinqton Avenue Bids <br />Tim Houle reviewed the bid results for the North Washington Avenue <br />project. He noted that the City received four bids. He recommended that <br />the Council accept the low bid from DeChantal Excavating at $185,190.54. <br />Tim Houle reviewed the alternate bids received for the project. He noted <br />that conduit and wiring was not included in the bids. <br />Discussion was held regarding the possibility of directional boring if <br />conduit isn't put in during the project. Tim Houle stated that it would be <br />possible but to directional bore at a later date would not be as efficient. <br />Tim Houle explained the benefit in using Type C oil that was specified in <br />the alternate bid. Council Member Gardner questioned the lighting due to <br />the cost. The Mayor suggested putting in 4 lights on Washington Avenue <br />
