■ DEVELOPMENT OF ACTION PLAN BY INDUSTRY/ECONOMIC SEGMENT <br />MANUFACTURING: BEVERAGES (NON - ALCOHOLIC) <br />:Z PRIORITY: 5 (MODERATE) <br />Description Bottling and distribution of either water, sport drink, soft drink or other unique beverage. <br />Opportunity for Crow Opportunity to leverage the Brainerd Lakes brand to not only sell product but also reinforce and <br />Wing County build awareness of the region from a tourist and economic development destination perspective. <br />Resource Requirements Resource Requirement Evaluation of Resource <br />and Evaluation ► Sites /Buildings: FDA - quality building for bottling operation located in industrial park with <br />.clean" neighbors of on a stand -alone site. <br />► Qualified Labor: Need to provide training program for handling beverage product and <br />the required quality/cleanliness procedures. <br />► Access to Utilities: Need access to high quality water source as well as electric power and <br />possibly gas. <br />► Transportation Truck access are available. <br />Access: <br />Marketing Strategy Market the area primarily through MN -DEED and seek out potential beverage companies that may <br />have an interest in the area. <br />Action Plan/Timing Action Item Proposed Responsibility <br />1. Develop inventory of available buildings and BLADC to gather feedback from local brokers <br />sites for this industry. and building managers <br />2. Determine currently available training BLADC, work force- related organizations and <br />programs at CLC for this industry and discuss other stakeholders <br />future needs. <br />3. Develop a Marketing Profile for the area that <br />presents the available resources to support <br />this industry. <br />4. Submit profile to MN -DEED and post on <br />BLADC site. <br />5. Form an industry attraction team of locally <br />interested stakeholders. <br />BLADC prepare profile with support from MS &B <br />BLADC to maintain dialog <br />BLADC and Chamber of Commerce <br />Key Aspects of Beverage Product: <br />• Design of bottle (consider bioplastics material). <br />i Development of brand image, design of label. <br />a� Attract company with experience in formulation and bottling processes. <br />Provide FDA - quality building. <br />Train local workers in bottling procedures and quality standards. <br />!
