■ DEVELOPMENT OF ACTION PLAN BY INDUSTRY /ECONOMIC SEGMENT <br />RENEWABLE ENERGY /FUEL OPTIONS <br />:) PRIORITY: 7 (MODERATE TO HIGH <br />Description <br />Provide a renewable energy /fuel facility within the area that may include the following options: <br />electric power and steam generation from wood pellets or landfill methane gas; ethanol from <br />cellulosic plant material; or biodiesel fuel (see process charts on next page). <br />Opportunity for Crow <br />With rail access and availability of methane gas at the landfill, there are options for developing a <br />Wing County <br />renewable energy /fuel facility in the area. There is an opportunity to not only sell electricity but <br />also attract businesses that need steam as well as support a commercial greenhouse operation <br />heated by the condensed steam. <br />Resource Requirements <br />Resource Requirement Evaluation of Resource <br />and Evaluation <br />► Sites /Buildings: Will depend on type of operation that is targeted. <br />► Qualified Labor: There is a significant amount of existing skill in the area. Unique <br />requirements will need to be delivered through CLC. <br />► Access to Utilities: Will vary by type of operation. <br />► Transportation Rail access available depending on site location. Truck access is also <br />Access: available. <br />Marketing Strategy <br />Market both the energy generation and steam user opportunities through MN -DEED and directly to <br />companies that may have a potential interest in the area. <br />Action Plan/Timing <br />Action Item Proposed Responsibility <br />1. Establish an Energy Action Team to review BLADC and Chamber of Commerce <br />and pursue options. <br />2.
