■ DEVELOPMENT OF ACTION PLAN BY INDUSTRY/ECONOMIC SEGMENT <br />MANUFACTURING: SPECIALTY CON TONENTS <br />:) PRIORITY: 8 (MODERATE TO HIGH <br />Description <br />Production of parts, components and sub - assemblies from metals, wood, plastics, carbon fiber, <br />composites and other materials for a variety of applications and industries. <br />Opportunity for Crow <br />Opportunity to leverage the existing plastics, wood and metal fabrication companies currently in the <br />Wing County <br />area. Businesses will range from 10 to 250+ employees and are typically housed in flex space that <br />is adaptable to different production layouts and processes. <br />Resource Requirements <br />Resource Requirement Evaluation of Resource <br />and Evaluation <br />► Sites /Buildings: Smaller companies typically seek out available buildings rather that <br />sites. Larger operations or those with unique space requirements will <br />opt to build on available sites, particularly within industrial parks. <br />► Qualified Labor: There is a significant amount of existing skill in the area. A company <br />with unique requirements will need to partner with CLC to develop <br />training program. <br />► Access to Utilities: All utilities are available and are reasonably priced. <br />► Transportation Truck, air and rail access are available depending on the needs of the <br />Access: business and the location of customers and suppliers. <br />Marketing Strategy <br />Market the area primarily through MN -DEED and monitor new businesses being generated from <br />university R &D or those seeking lower cost alternatives to the M—SP metro area. <br />Action Plan/Timing <br />Action Item Proposed Responsibility <br />1. Develop inventory of available buildings and BLADC to work with brokerage community to <br />sites for this industry. identify available sites and buildings <br />2. Determine currently available training BLADC to gather feedback from local brokers <br />programs at CLC for this industry and discuss and building managers <br />with existing employers any pending or future <br />needs. <br />3. Develop a Marketing Profile for the area that BLADC prepare profile with support from MS &B <br />presents the available resources to support <br />this industry. <br />4. Submit profile to MN -DEED and post on BLADC to maintain dialog <br />BLADC web site. <br />5.
