City Council Minutes <br />October 6, 2009 <br />Page 9 of 12 <br />----------------------------- <br />6.3. Resolution Approving Lot Subdivision Prior to Recording <br />Chuck Marohn requested that the City adopt a resolution to ensure that a <br />property owner cannot record a lot split with the County without prior City <br />approval. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 09 -31 <br />TO APPROVE LOT SUBDIVISIONS PRIOR TO RECORDING. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br />0. <br />6.4. Planning Commission Appointment <br />The Mayor noted that the City received two applications for the Planning <br />Commission vacancy and recommended that Deb Brown be appointed to <br />the position to fill the vacancy created by Mary Petersen. <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO NOMINATE DEB BROWN TO THE <br />PLANNING COMMISSION WITH THE TERM TO EXPIRE ON <br />12/31/2010. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />`— Cathy Malecha applauded each applicant. She stated she felt it would be <br />beneficial to have a woman's perspective on the commission. <br />Mayor Adams indicated that she also appreciated both applicants. <br />Council Member Ryan requested the Mayor to clarify the needs of the <br />Planning Commission in which she based her decision to appoint Deb <br />Brown. The Mayor indicated she based her decision on the fact that she is <br />an owner in the business park, she has been in Pequot Lakes for nine <br />years, and is very active. <br />MOTION CARRIED 4 -1. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN VOTED NAY. <br />7. Fire Department Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />8. Police Department Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />8.1. Animal Control Contract <br />`. <br />
