City Council Minutes <br />April 7, 2009 <br />Page 5 of 10 <br />-------------------- - - - - -- <br />Council Member Ryan indicated that he would like to offer the service of <br />sending a duplicate bill to the tenant, if requested. The Clerk noted that <br />this has been the policy in the past and has caused much confusion <br />between the City, tenants, and landlords. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO APPROVE THE UTILITY <br />BILLING POLICY FOR LANDLORDS AND TENANTS. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br />0. <br />9.A.2. Ordinance Amendment Regarding Utility Billing <br />The Clerk noted that the proposed ordinance amendment addresses two <br />issues: <br />1) Payment deadline for utility bills - changed from the 25th day of the <br />month to the last day of the month. <br />2) Landlords and Tenants — landlords shall be responsible for tenants' <br />utility charges. <br />Mayor Adams requested the following change to the proposed <br />amendment: <br />At the end of the last sentence, add: "and responsible for paying the City <br />for said utility charges." <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 09 -03 AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 15, ARTICLE 2, OF THE CITY CODE RELATING TO WATER <br />REGULATIONS AS AMENDED. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />9.A.3. Request to Forgive Sewer Charges <br />Mike Loven informed the Council that Earl Hemmerich had a water line <br />break and is requesting the City to forgive the excess sewer charges for <br />the water that was discharged but did not go into the City's sewer system. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO FORGIVE SEWER CHARGES <br />FOR EARL HEMMERICH IN THE AMOUNT OF $757.08. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br />0. <br />�- 9.13. Street Department Monthly Report <br />
