Clerk's January 2009 Staff Report
----------------------------------------
• At the writing of this memo, the preliminary number that is proposed to be cut by
the Governor that would affect our 2009 budget is $81,324. The proposed cut for
2010 is $152,621. Nancy Malecha and I will be attending a webinar on Friday
afternoon to hear more about this issue. We will give a brief report to the Council
at Tuesday's meeting. I anticipate that we will be asking the Council for a
workshop meeting to look at ways to handle the shortfall for 2009.
Highway 371 Task Force
• The Highway 371 Task Force continues to meet and is working toward getting
municipal consent and toward possible funding from the Federal Government.
Tommy Woog will be present to update the Council.
Job Evaluation Committee
• The Job Evaluation Committee met on two occasions in January to review the
new job position of Public Works Supervisor. The committee is making a
recommendation to the Council on this issue at the February Council meeting.
HRA Director
• The HRA has hired Erika O'Brien as the HRA Director and Jon Hall as the
Maintenance Person. Since they were both hired, Carrie Walsh submitted her
. resignation and no longer works at the HRA. Therefore, there is currently an
opening her position.
Cole Memorial Building
• I have met with the Cole Memorial Building Committee. The Committee is
working toward setting some guidelines for use of the Cole Memorial Building.
We hope to have a recommendation to the Council in March.
Office Assistant
• The Police Chief and I have discussed the possibility of sharing personnel for
some job duties. The Police Department had budgeted for a part time person to
assist the Office Manager Janet Wedan. When the Council made the decision to
eliminate the storm management utility, that duty which was performed by the
Office Assistant was eliminated. Jeanyne is now spending a few hours per week
assisting in the Police Department.
Clerk's Staff
• I have asked both Nancy Malecha and Jeanyne Alderson to provide information
for the monthly report to the Council. The information they provide will be job
duties that are not done on a day-to-day basis.
